Modest Encroachments on Privacy

June 8, 2013

I have heard some pretty bold and arrogant statements in my lifetime but for the president of the United States to refer to spying on American citizens is a “modest encroachments on privacy” has to take the cake. He says this and justifies his actions in the name of security. He “claims” that he placed restrictions on what was allowed and what was not allowed, but does that make it justifiable? Since we have not been told what those restrictions are, one has to wonder if they actually exist and what exactly they are.

Limiting oneself as to how far you will go illegally does not make an act anymore legal, another words putting restrictions on an illegal act doesn’t make it legal. Obama isn’t totally to blame for this over reach of power because Bush set the example by issuing an executive order in 2002 which allowed the NSA the power to monitor or spy on international and domestic entities. He gave them the power to do so without any warrants thus giving them free reign on when and where they could spy without any oversight from any other government agency.

ScalesOur government was established on checks and balances and what he and Obama are doing is throwing out all the checks and balances. The office of the presidency is over stepping its authority by these actions. They have both justified their actions by saying we have to give up some privacy in order to gain some security. I would ask, how does giving up ones rights make one more secure? Our rights are what makes us secure, without them we are wide open for tyranny and that is the biggest threat to our security.

How soon we forget our past. Must I remind everyone that Nixon was impeached partly for wiretapping, which is exactly what our government is doing to us today? The Constitution strictly prohibits government electronic surveillance without previously acquiring a warrant with probable cause. It does this stating that “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause”. This means the government cannot search its citizens or their property to obtain personal information regardless of the type or form of information it might be, without a warrant. The Supreme Court has upheld this interpretation of our laws but yet our presidents have not.

When you throw the IRS’ actions into the mix you have to wonder whether the restrictions were also on who was being targeted. Could they have been spying primarily on conservatives? If you stand back and look at the BIG PICTURE how can anyone feel comfortable about our government? There are so many things that in themselves draw questions but when you put them all together they have to add up to pure conspiracy.

I know what you are thinking here we go again another conspiracy theory. But be warned not all TinFoilHatAreaconspiracy theories are false, many actually are true. Watergate was a conspiracy theory, the American Revolution started as a conspiracy theory, the Civil War started as a conspiracy theory and as a matter of fact every war that has ever happened on this planet started as a conspiracy theory. Conspiracy theories come true all the time. The problem is distinguishing the true ones from the false ones.

Is it just a theory that the IRS targeted conservatives? Is it just a theory that our government is spying on us? Is it just a theory that our government wants to restrict and possibly remove our Second Amendment rights? Is it a theory that the federal government’s power is growing and all others are decreasing? Is it a theory that our government sold guns to criminals in Mexico while trying to take them out of our hands? Is it a theory that the government spends our money with no regard to our wishes? Is it a theory that our government claims to be cutting taxes, all the while more taxes are being taken out of our pay checks? Is it a theory that our monetary system is not run by our government but by a private bank? Is it a theory that the unemployment numbers being quoted by our government are manipulated to only count those receiving unemployment checks while ignoring those who have run out of unemployment benefits? Is it a theory that the income of the middle class has declined in the past five years? Is it a theory that the more Americans at the poverty level now than in the past fifty years? Is it a theory that law enforcement within the federal government has grown rapidly? Is it a theory that our military personnel have lost their right to free speech? Is it a theory that all of us are losing our rights to free speech with the encroachment of Islam? Is it a theory that the office of the presidency continually over steps its assigned power?

There are so many examples I could go on and on but I think you can see how these are not theories but facts.  If you put them all together it has to paint a picture of the path we are being lead down. Keep in mind that these things have been going on for a very long time. Each president takes actions that empower his predecessor to take the next step down the path. Whether they are in a conspiracy together or not, the fact remains that they are leading us down the same path which will result in the same result.

That result will be a country without Constitutional rights for its citizens. That means a country based on tyranny. That is no theory it is a fact. So if you like giving up your rights for a false sense of security then go ahead and jump on Obama’s bandwagon and being a slave to the government because that is where our government is headed. If you can’t see that then you are deaf, dumb and blind. The handwriting is not only on the wall but in our law books, our news media, the internet and right in front of your face.

We must not allow this government to continue to blatantly ignore our laws. We need to be heard. We need to make our government hear us.  We need to take responsibility for our government. If we don’t then it won’t be our government much longer and that is if it still is now. We cannot let this administration get away with this or any more illegal acts. It must stop now because if it continues and the government is allowed search our property without a warrant then it can do just about anything it wants.

If we don’t uphold the Constitution on this then we can’t uphold the Constitution on anything. This could be the end of a Constitutional America and that becoming fact or not, depends on you and I.
