Guns and our Mental State

April 11, 2013

There is a movement in America to pass laws to restrict gun ownership for the mentally ill and criminals. I’m not going to address the criminal aspect, just the mentally ill aspect of these laws. I have no problem with keeping guns away from the severely mentally ill, but is that what these laws are truly shooting for? I believe they are aiming for something entirely different.

If the government does create a mental health standard for gun ownership, what do you think it will look like? Do you think it will state the things a person should be or the things they cannot be, in order to own a gun? I’m sure it will be the latter and not the former. Now what do you think they will say you “cannot be”?

Let’s look into that a little further. I’m sure paranoia, schizophrenia, bi-polar or any presently categorized severe mental illness will be on the list. What about other “mental illnesses, states and disorders”? They could easily list any mental state as dangerous to gun ownership. How about depression, anxiety, mood disorders, stressed, distressed, mourning, maniac, apathy, bored, aroused, unresponsive, evasive, angry, seductive, agitated, delusional, poor judgment, amnesia, delirium, easily distracted or  just plain relaxed? It is possible that these could be lumped into the mental illnesses that exempt you from gun ownership. Who hasn’t had at least one of these mental states in the past twenty-four hours? The scariest part is that your doctor could put you into one of these categories and you wouldn’t even know it till it is too late.

I can see the government issuing mental health forms to the doctors with all these different categories on the page. Then demand that doctors categorize everyone who walks through their doors into all categories that apply. Some doctors are known for not always telling their patients everything. They would obviously abide by the law and fill out the forms, thereby removing all your guns rights.  How many people do you think they can ban with this method?

You have to remember the agenda of the gun control advocates is to remove ALL guns from the public’s hands. Therefore, any legislation will be aiming for that agenda. Any mental health legislation will be part of that agenda, and as such, it will be headed that direction.

Already the government is trying to ban veterans from owning guns. They use the mental MilitaryAssaultBoatshealth argument for their justification. They claim that the veterans are mentally unstable because of what they have seen and done during their active duty during wartime. If that were the case then every person in the military should give up their issued weapons immediately, while they are still on active duty.  If you can’t trust the veterans when they get home, then how can you trust them before they get home? They don’t instantly become unstable by a flip of a switch. It is something that takes time and from not dealing with their issues properly.

I have to ask how many veterans have you heard of from WWI and WWII that came home and went on a killing spree? I’m sure there were some but it wasn’t a disease running amok across America or in the world for that matter? No… it was rarely heard of but now our government thinks that all veterans are dangerous, why is that? I know there are some who crack when they get home and some of them actually do get violent but those are the exceptions, not the rule. So why have a rule to remove all Second Amendment rights from all veterans?

I can tell you why. It is very simple. Veterans were highly trained in the art of war and killing. If the American people did revolt against the tyranny that is in Washington today, the veterans would be the first to fight. They would be the best to fight. Our government knows what might be coming in the near future and they want to reduce their losses as much as possible. They want to reduce as many guns as possible and reduce as many threats as possible to their survival. The final target of these legislations is a total gun ban.

What better way to take away guns than to reduce the number of people who can own guns? Mental health requirements within such legislation will be used to severely reduce those numbers. Any time someone wants to take away your rights to increase your security you should run away and as fast as you can. The more rights you give up the more security you give up. Our rights are our only security for freedom. Never forget that! Also, remember that no one right is more important than the next for our freedom. It takes the entire package of our rights for freedom to be truly free.

I only wished that more Americans could see the wayward path that the liberals are taking this country. It is not only wayward, but dangerous. It is dangerous for America and all it has stood for from its conception. The ideals within liberalism, progressivism, socialism and communism are all the same in this respect because they all want to change America from what it was designed to be. America thrived when it held true to its values, but ever since it has taken the liberal wayward path it has been slowy disintegrating. America is rapidly coming to the point of no return where there will be no way back. That point will be the end of America and everything it stood for.

That is why I say fight any and all legislation that advocates gun control. I also say fight any and all legislation that trades your rights for your security. It will give you a false security. Get out there fight and win your rights back before you have no rights. Don’t be so quick to pull the trigger on gun legislation or you could be killing your own right to freedom.
