New Year’s Resolutions

December 30, 2013

2014AheadTime once again for many of us to partake of that age old tradition of making New Year’s resolutions. At this time every year, countless people decide to change their lives for the better, they resolve to better themselves. The resolutions cover the entire gamut of possibilities. Many want to better their finances, many wish to lose weight, many want to better their personality, and many want to better their station in life. But most want to take a step to a better life. I’m sure there are some who want a “better life” and don’t care how they get there. They will stomp all over others to achieve it and I’m sure their New Year’s resolutions are different than most others.

If you are one of those people who do make resolutions at this time of year then I suggest you follow the example of the person who made the first New Year’s resolution. This individual didn’t make a resolution for himself but for all mankind. His wish was to save man from himself. You may or may not be wondering who this individual could be. But either way I’m going to tell you.

This individual not only made the first New Year’s resolution, but he made it on the very first New Year. You probably have guessed by now that this individual was God. He made a selfless resolution for the salvation of man. Even when he was forming the stars and galaxies he was also forming his resolutions for man, even though he had not even created man yet.

God formed a resolution for the plan that Jesus would become a man and InGodHandswalk among us. His plan included so many throughout history. He used Noah, Abraham, Joseph, Moses, all the prophets, David and the list goes on and on. Jesus was his plan coming together. It was His life and sacrifice that was the heart of the plan. God made the resolution that Jesus would be our salvation.

God sacrificed his son for us, and what have we sacrificed for him? God made a resolution for the first New Year for us, and what resolution on any given new year have we made for Him? In honor of God starting the tradition of New Year’s resolutions for us, I suggest that we make our New Year’s resolutions for Him. If you can’t make it about God then at least make it unselfish by make it about bettering yourself for all mankind, then consider doing something for your country.

Right now America is in trouble and it needs you. It needs all of us. If you could possibly find it in your heart to resolve to make America better we would all appreciate it deeply. The first thing you can do is study the issues and the records of all those running for office, then you can vote responsibly in every election. But you can’t stop there because then you have to make those elected to office responsible for their actions.

Please keep all this in mind when you make your personal resolutions and also remember that your New Year’s resolutions don’t have to be elaborate resolutions as long as they are sincere. Also don’t make them like 99% of all New Year’s resolutions which are forgotten by the time the hang-over is over, but instead make them come true and standby them, just like God stands by His resolution for you.

With that said I would like to wish everyone a very happy new year. May your new year bring you everything you need and more. May you find more happiness than your heart can handle. May your cup runneth over. May you also rescue this great country and bring it back from the brink of its destruction. Have a Happy and GREAT New Year, all year long.

I am a devout Constitutional conservative and Christian. My only degree is in life experiences, which comes from a lifetime of learning from life. I derived my education from being part of this great nation and that has given me more of an education than I could ever get from any text book. I love this country and everything it is supposed to stand for. I write to bring it back to its roots and to help stop the destruction that is coming to this country both morally and physically.
