What is a Conservative or a Liberal

November 5, 2013

What does it mean to be called a Conservative or a Liberal? First let me state that the definition of each is different in different countries, so I will be limiting my definition to what we in America consider as a liberal or a conservative.

MerriamWebsterDictionary1Merriam-Webster defines a conservative as the following. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/conservatism

2a : disposition in politics to preserve what is established”

“2b : a political philosophy based on tradition and social stability, stressing established institutions, and preferring gradual development to abrupt change; specifically : such a philosophy calling for lower taxes, limited government regulation of business and investing, a strong national defense, and individual financial responsibility for personal needs”

“3: the tendency to prefer an existing or traditional situation to change”

Therefore according to Merriam-Webster a Conservative would be someone who is opposed to any sudden change and prefers the status quo over change. They aren’t opposed to change but are opposed to sudden changes especially when the changes are from traditional values. They would be against high taxes and big government while supporting a strong military. They would be against major government interference in economic matters especially if it was against capitalistic economic concepts. They would also believe in people taking personal responsibly for one’s own needs and their own future. Another words no one should be able to make welfare a career choice. They would be opposed to a government that excerpts it brute force into the business world, or the private world of its citizens. A Conservative would believe in the Constitution as a sound document with little need for change, especially when it has to do with the very basic concepts within the document.

MerriamWebsterDictionary1If we take Merriam-Webster’s definition of Liberalism then it means you believe this. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/liberalism

“2a : often capitalized : a movement in modern Protestantism emphasizing intellectual liberty and the spiritual and ethical content of Christianity

b : a theory in economics emphasizing individual freedom from restraint and usually based on free competition, the self-regulating market, and the gold standard

c : a political philosophy based on belief in progress, the essential goodness of the human race, and the autonomy of the individual and standing for the protection of political and civil liberties; specifically : such a philosophy that considers government as a crucial instrument for amelioration of social inequities (as those involving race, gender, or class)”

Merriam-Webster defines a liberal as a person whose religious thinking is in the line of more thought provoking liberties within the religious realm.  They would be open to changes within their religious worship and values. That means they are not grounded in any strong religious values because they are easily swayed to try new religious ideas and concepts.

The liberal economic system would welcome capitalism, a free market and an economy based on the value of gold. From what we know of liberals, they do not fit the liberal economic definition. They fight against capitalism and for a socialist and a communist system.

Within the political arena by definition, a liberal would believe in political evolution to a progressive way of FiscalConservSociallyLiberalgoverning. They would believe that humans in general are essentially good. They would believe in individual rights and in our ability to self-govern. They would stand for civil rights to the point that they expect the government to be the driving force to right social injustices and inequities.  That means they believe that the government should use its brute force to correct what they perceive as unbalance of wealth and opportunities. Another words the government should take from the rich and give to the poor, regardless if anyone was deserving. There is so much contradition in those defintions that it is hard t0 nail down what a liberal is from those terms.

You can see that the definition of each can be contradictory depending on whether you are talking about the economy, politics or religion. But these definitions don’t necessarily fit within the context of what the average person on the street means when they use those words to describe a liberal or a conservative. You may also observe that a conservative definition is much closer to what a conservative stands for, more so than how the liberal definition fits the picture of what we consider a liberal. That is because the liberal movement is constantly moving and progressing further and further to the left. Because of that the defining line between the two is always moving.

When someone from the opposing party uses one of these terms to describe his opponent, the meaning tends toRacistVoteConservative vary somewhat from the prescribed definition. In the political realm a liberal thinks of a conservative as someone who is too stupid to change and someone who opposes progress. He thinks of his opponent as a religious zealot who won’t compromise his values for others. He believes that conservatives want to continue to give the rich tax breaks while taxing the poor unfairly. The liberal also believes that the Constitution is a living document that is growing, changing and evolving into something different. He would have no problem rewriting the Constitution. Liberals believe that if you don’t agree with them then you must be evil and corrupt that is why they are quick to call names. They don’t think twice about calling a conservative a racist or some other derogatory name regardless if the name has anything to do with the subject at hand or not. Calling a conservative a racist is the favorite past time for a liberal.

He professes to be a proponent of civil rights and at the same time he is willing to violate other’s civil rights in the guise of righting a wrong from previous generations. That is what is commonly called affirmative action, which is where the government can punish innocent people of today for the civil rights violations that were perpetrated by previous generations. That is nothing more than punishing the son, for the sins of the father or someone else’s father. Since when is it right to punish one person for another’s wrong?

On the other hand a conservative would see a liberal as someone who is too stupid to use logical reasoning. They believe that liberals can only think with their emotions and not with normal logic. Conservatives see liberals as emotional wrecks. Liberals are seen as very emotional so much so it interferes with their communication skills at times. That is why they often call liberals bleeding hearts, because conservatives believe that liberals care more about making the victims feel better, than into stopping the process of making victims. They believe that liberals are blinded by what liberals see as love for fellow man albeit only their “poorer” fellow man. It is believed that liberals have the idea that personal wealth can only be acquired by evil means even though some of the liberals themselves are rich. Conservatives see liberals as hypocrites because of the contradictions within their own values.

Conservatives believe that liberals want the world to be one big socialist haven for the poor to live off of the rich. As a conservative myself I have to agree with the conservative analysis of what a liberal is or is not.  The liberals love to give people labels and they do it constantly. They are always calling their oponents abrasive names like racist, hate mongers and even vulgar names.  But they love to give themselves names that make them sound as benevolent and forward thinking people but often those names are really facades that conceal their truth identities.

One of their favorite monikers is “progressives” which makes them sound like people for progress and future thinking. But the actual meaning of a progressive doesn’t really fit what they stand for or act like. I should say the political definition doesn’t really fit their true nature but there is one definition of the word that does fit perfectly to what they are. You can see that according to http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/progressive the defintion of a progressive is someone who encourages self expression but we know that they only do that when the expression coincides with their own opinion. The defintion says that they put the emphasis on the individual child and we know that’s not the case they always put emphasis on the collective.

MerriamWebsterDictionary11 a:  of, relating to, or characterized by progress

b:  making use of or interested in new ideas, findings, or opportunities

c:  of, relating to, or constituting an educational theory marked by emphasis on the individual child, informality of classroom procedure, and encouragement of self-expression

Of all the different definitions the medical definition of a progressive seems to fit more perfectly than any other:  “Continuously increasing in extent or severity, as a disease.”  This definition defines what a progressive really is better than anything else I can find.

They continually increase their agenda of lies with the utmost severity even to the extent of the loss of all truth. Progressiveness is just like a disease and grows just like a disease. It will grow and with all its emotional ability kill anything that opposes its progress or its agenda. It is a disease on the heart of America and it will kill America sooner or later. It is already giving her a heart attack. She is sick from the corruption coming out of Washington. There is a cancer in America and it is called socialism. America is not compatible with socialism because of that socialism will kill America and everything it has stood for.

Ever since they fired the shot that was heard around the world, America has stood for freedom and socialism has nothing to do with freedom.  Therefore socialism will kill America and the very idea of America.

I love this country and everything it is supposed to stand for. I write to bring it back to its roots and to help stop the destruction that is coming to this country both morally and physically.
